JEDDAH – Contraco, Al-Saudi-XI, Elaf Advance, Marine Services and Masco emerged winners in the Hyundai Summer Afternoon Tournament matches at the Eskan Grounds here recently. The tournament is organized by the Western Province Cricket Assoication (WPCA) and sponsored by Hyundai. In the first match, Masco beat Dopco Safa Al-Bawadi by six wickets. Dopco was bundled out for 127 as Haroon did not allow any liberty and claimed 4-33, Bilal 3-27 and Junaid 2-10. Afzal and Jamshed were the only ones among the batsmen to score 21 each. Masco, in response, was home for the loss of four wickets off 76 balls. Irfan remained unbeaten on 36 and Shahid hit 33. Waqas took 2-33. Marine Services beat AOT Youngsters by 12 runs. Marine Services plundered runs at will as Tahir hammered 70 off 43 balls and Umair 35. Kashif remained unbeaten on 35 to take the total to 189-5. Anas Ali took 2-24. AOT Youngsters responded with Anas Ali making 33, Gulam Hasnain 47, Salman 30 and Rafeeq 21. It found itself stranded at 177-4. In another encounter, Contraco beat Hala International School by seven wickets. Hala posted 161-9 as skipper Mohsin Mirza compiled 49 and Noman 31. None of the schoolboys could master the bowling of Kaleem, who grabbed 4-30. Contraco, in reply, found Maqsood in prime touch and he remained unbeaten on 95, while his partner Kaleem hit 55 to take the team to the winning target of 165 off 82 balls with seven wickets in hand. Atif took 2-3. Elaf Advance beat Pak Mecca-XI by 20 runs. Elaf Advance hammered the Pak Mecca bowlers as its openers scored 190 runs with Majed racking up an unbeaten 127 (4 sixes and 16 fours) and Siddique 61 to take the tally to 192-1. Pak Mecca-XI responded with Irfan hammering 82, but he did not get any support from the other end. Fahad later added 36 to take the total to 172-7. Siddique grabbed 3-25, Majed 2-13 and Babar 2-44. In the last match of the day, Al-Saudi-XI beat My Care Hala Green by eight wickets. My Care Hala Green was bundled out for 141 as Yasir scored 57 and Noor 23. Sajid grabbed 3-12, Mazhar Abbasi 2-14, Adil 2-19 and Nadeem Saad 2-38. Al-Saudi, in reply, saw Mazhar Abbasi rack up an unbeaten 75 in 33 balls as he added 110 runs for the unbroken third wicket stand with Yaqoub (31 not out) to reach the target of 143 for the loss of two wickets.
