RIYADH — The Boss team, anchored by Mike Buenaventura and guided by Bong Bardon, the lone Class B contender who made it to top seven of the overall individual standing, finally gained their composure and grabbed two important wins toward the third round robin of the 55th Nesto Dartfest. It was a hard-earned accomplishment for the team as it was in the last slot for almost two consecutive rounds. Three more wins will put it into contention and gain a crack for a semifinal birth at fifth place ahead of Cobras and Angels. With its recent victories, the team slipped past Angels of Noel Doringo and now on sixth position with 110 points. The match against Bulleros witnessed a see-saw battle. Although the team managed to score only 3 points, courtesy of Bong Bardon, Daryl Catapang and Jay Patalinghug, and 5 points from the other side, Mike Buenaventura managed to equal the firepower of Cris Ibuos' team in the doubles round, 4-4, to stretch it until the last leg. Both teams exchanged equal fires until Christian Vista unrolled the curtain with his D5 outshot. Vista was later commended for his heroic deeds by clinching a D16 in the third doubles to extend the game and then sealing the team match. The victory against Cobras of Ariel Agbunag was easier for the Boss. Both teams displayed equal darting skills in the beginning with a 4-4 ending. Although his counterpart lost in the singles, it was Jay Patalinghug's 180 perfect darts that signaled the victory of the Boss. True enough the victors swept three doubles matches to end the game early by Bong Bardon/Mike Buenaventura, Randy Valenzuela/Daryl Catapang and Dejan Palencia/Rexy Pineda. It was a big day for the team as it needed more wins to get a good position in the stepladder contest. Record holders of the week were Randy Brosas and Harry Castaneda for bulls outshot; Joel Villanueva, Barron Ignacio and Merwin Vergara for Ton -80 and least darts for Jun Jison. The event is sponsored by Nesto Hypermarket through the management of Nilas, Ali and Vysakh; Lito Gaspar of PNB and Apollo Sude of Paul Angelo Travel and Tours. It is organized by the Expat Darters of Saudi Arabia (EDSA), a prime association of dart enthusiasts based in the capital city, under the leadership of Emer Cortez (president) and Anthony Ferdz Benting (vice president), tournament directors and officers.
