Saudi Gazette JEDDAH — Arshad Munir, Consular (Press) at Pakistan Consulate General, hosted a dinner reception for local journalists at Tawa n Tandour restaurant recently. The reception was attended by senior journalists from Saudi Gazette, Arab News, Urdu News, members Pakistan Journalist Forum (PJF). Lady journalists Khadija Malik and Maryam Shahid too attended. Amir Mohammed Khan, chairman PJF, in his opening remarks congratulated Munir on his promotion to grade 20 and expressed good wishes from the journalists. He praised Munir's diligence and cooperative nature for his climbing the career ladder. He also stated that it was Munir's demeanor and manners that have enabled him befriend the journalist community here, and his ready response to every request of the media is one virtue that has enamored him to the journalist fraternity. Khan added that Munir's quality of keeping his word and adhering to time are values that have stood him in good stead. Munir, in his address, said, "I feel proud to welcome all of you here. I thank all of you'll for accepting his invitation." He added, "The journalists have a number of roles and responsibilities that they must consider throughout the course of their entire career, and I'm indeed honored to count many of them as my friends, and am thankful for their assistance in helping me in any small way." He praised the enormous contribution made by the PJF in developing the ideal relationship between Saudi Arabia and Pakistan and promoting the soft image of Pakistan. He said in his opinion, a single person has no status and will not be able to achieve much, but only if that person cooperates with everyone then he can realize success, if not at least some part of success. "For Successes is a team work, and you need to recognize the team and work with it, " he added. He shared his experiences over the years in different stations, and wished to continue sustaining the good relations between Pakistani journalists and consulate. He said, "The Jeddah Consulate is the largest mission of Pakistan abroad. It has a very experienced team and seasoned officers ready to help and serve community members living in the Western region or those who come from other regions. And it endeavors to assist all to the best of its capacity." He added, "Although the consulate has limited resources and powers but all efforts have been made to provide best services to the community which they deserve." In the end Siraj Wahab and Shahzad Azam entertained the gathering with their poetries.
