JEDDAH — A gang of four Asians who allegedly robbed foreigners by impersonating secret policemen was apprehended in Jeddah. First Lt. Nawaf Al-Bouq, spokesman for Jeddah police, said a call from an Indian national who was the victim of a violent robbery by the gang resulted in the arrest of the men, led by another Indian. Posing as officials from the criminal investigation wing of Jeddah police, the gang used to raid houses of foreigners and ask them to show their IDs. Then they used to attack them and run away with their money, mobile phones and other valuables. The Indian national called the police after he came under attack. The gang stole his money, cell phone and other valuables before fleeing. After obtaining a description of the gang, police immediately launched a massive manhunt for the gang in the area where the Indian was robbed. Eventually, a police patrol team noticed four men who were running toward a side road. Another man was found nearby with marks of physical assault. The man told the police team that he was beaten up and robbed by the gang. Soon police surrounded the area and nabbed all four men, Al-Bouq said.
