Semifinalists spotted in ORIX event

RIYADH — Punjab Stars, Attieh Steel, Lahore Badshah Green, Pak Force and Serendib qualified for the semifinals of the Saudi ORIX Tournament, organized by Riyadh Cricket Association (RCA) here.
Quarterfinals were completed in the Riyadh Cricket Zone. In the first match, Lahore Badshah Green outplayed TBCC by 85 runs. Batting first, Lahore Badshah Green piled up 227-3 in 20 overs. Mirza Jahangir Baig played a splendid knock of 91 off 44 balls. He was supported by Ali (66) and Amir (27).
Zakarya and Shahryar got one wicket each.
TBCC was all out for 142 in reply. Mehboob scored 43 and Faisal 28. Jahangir Baloch ripped through the batting and took 5 wickets. Amer got 2 and Wajid 1. Jahangir Baloch was declared the Man-of-the-Match.
Pak Force beat Royal Strikers by 3 wickets in the second quarterfinal. Royal Strikers tallied 171. Imran Malik of Pak Force took 3 wickets. Pak Force lost 7 wickets in pursuit of the target. Imran Malik scored 41 vital runs. Imran Faisal hit 38, Naveed 31 and Anwar 26. Dilip took 3 wickets and Siraj 2. Imran Malik was adjudged the Man-of-the-Match.
Punjab Stars beat Sulaiman XI by 4 wickets. Sulaiman XI scored 208-8. Irshad Khan took 3 wickets, while Tanweer and Iqab got 2 each. Punjab Stars achieved the target in 17.5 overs through Abbas 60 and Tanweer 42.
Serendib upset Riyadh Fighters in the last quarterfinal. Batting first, Riyadh Fighters scored 198 in 20 overs. Hameed and Yassir remained unbeaten on 78 and 47 runs, respectively. Omar Kittab scored 30 runs. Saman, Hamza and Ishan took 1 wicket each. Serendib hit the target in 18.3 overs. Chanaka scored 57, Hamza 44 and Rimzan 36. Israr took 4 wickets and Imran Younous 2.
In the semifinals, Lahore Badshah Green will play Serendib and Pak Force will meet Punjab Stars.
In Huraymala Cricket Zone, Stallions beat Green Bangla by 6 runs. Taking the strike first, Stallions made 215-8 in 20 overs. Amir scored 55, Shakoor 49, Shahzad 25 and Shahbaz 24. Mashuq took 3 wickets. Kakon also got 2 important wickets. Green Bangla came so close to victory as Sohel scored 64, Mithu 52 and Kakon 26.
Attieh Steel beat Hyderabadi Warriors by 17 runs and qualified for the semifinals. Batting first, Attieh Steel scored a mammoth 239, thanks to a fine opening stand of 212 between Nasir 129 and Ramzan 77. Syed Nasser and Mohammed Bin Saleh took 1 wicket each.
In reply, Warriors could manage only 222. Mubashir 64, Imroz 58, Syed Nasser 50 and Shahnawaz 21 were the main scorers. Ramzan took 3 wickets.
KFSH Green beat Riyadh Warriors by 6 wickets. Riyadh Warriors batted first and scored 176-4. Ahmadullah made 56 and Abdul Raheem 50. Kausar claimed 2 wickets, while Tahir Abbasi and Mansoor Ali got one each.
In reply, KFSH Green reached the target in 19.1 overs. Fakhar scored 52, Rafaqat 58 and Mansoor Ali 39 not out.
In another match, Saudi Jaguar beat RAC.
RCA has also started the third tournament of the season 2012-2013. Two matches were played in Riyadh Zone.
In the first match, Crescent beat Tigers by 4 wickets. Batting first, Tigers made 197-6 in 20 overs. Halal scored 60 and Alwi 58. Khawar Abbas took 3 wickets, while Naveed, Rehman and Faraz got 1 each.
Crescent achieved the target in 19.2 overs through Hussain 66, Ahmad 44 and Hamza 37. Qasim took 3 wickets and Riyad 2.
In the second match, Yusafzai Cricket Club beat Seham by just 2 runs. Yusafzai scored 153. Hamid hit 34 and Asif 25. Shabir took 4 wickets, while Gulzar and Waseem got 2 each. Seham scored 151 in reply. Waseem made 35, Amir 23 and Gulzar 20. Farman and Asif got 2 wickets each.
