The students and teachers once again produced commendable International General Certificate of Secondary Education (IGCSE) and Edxcel exams held in May/June 2012 and Oct./Nov.2012. To bring the achievements of its students into lime light, PISES arranged a “Commendation Ceremony” on Feb. 20 a the Chancery Hall, The Embassy of Pakistan. Ambassador of Pakistan to Saudi Arabia Muhammad Naeem Khan was the chief guest at the event. He appreciated the students' praiseworthy results and congratulated their parents and teachers for their constant support and supervision. Quoting Benazir Bhutto as the role model of a daring lady who pierced through the male-dominated crowd of Pakistan and emerged as the first lady Prime Minister of Pakistan, Khan encouraged parents to focus on their daughters' education as much as they would do for their sons. At the ceremony, Khan was flanked by his wife who presented the prizes to the meritorious students. Sarah Tariq Faquih, Yusra Azeem Warsi, Fatima Bint Sajid, Rida Maqsood Khawaja, Saibah Ahmed Chohan and Wasif Safdar earned 6A*s and 2 As each in their IGCSE exam June 2011. Usama Bin Faisal secured 7A*s and 3 As, Naveen Zulqarnain Afzal 8A*s and one A, Wardah Khizar Usmani 7A*s and 1A, Bakhtawar Soomro and Muhammad Inzamam Tahir 6A*s and 2 As each brought laurels to school in the IGCSE exam conducted for June 2012. In the A2 exam of May 2011, Ruqayya Raza Syed garnered 4A*s, Manal Aziz Khan 4A, Fatima Iqbal 3A*s, Mariam Zaim 3A*s stood high among their peers. In the A2 exam of May 2012, Aujala Irfan Khan scored 4A*s, 4As, Shahzad Ahsan 3A*s, 3As dominated the intellectual horizon. Investors Forum of Pakistan, Riyadh announced a gold medal for Anuesh Haroon who topped in Business Studies in Riyadh in her IGCSE exam June, 2012. Khayyam Akbar, Minister, Deputy Head of Mission and the Link Officer of PISES gave away the prizes to high achievers from grades one to eight. Military Attache, Brigadier Tahir Gulzar Malik, counselors, community welfare attaches I and II were also present on the occasion with their wives. Acting Principal Muhammad Tanveer delivered a speech praising the students. A few colorful performances of the evening were “A Tribute to Teachers,” “What a mother really means,” “Sohnee Dhartee,” and “Colors of Pakistan among others.” – SG
