The Sri Lankan International School Jeddah hosted its annual awards ceremony for all grades in Jeddah on June 3 with zeal and enthusiasm. Madiha Gazzally, Head Prefect of the school welcomed A. L. Sabarullah Khan, Sri Lankan Consul General, the chief guest, his wife Nafla Sabrullah Khan and other distinguished guests and parents on the occasion. She commented that the annual awards ceremony is a day widely anticipated by parents and students alike. Suresh Nalaka came top in this year's GCE/IGCSE examinations and received a gold medal from the Consul General. He obtained six A stars and two As in the IGCSEs. Khan congratulated and appreciated the hard efforts of all teachers and students. He noted that he was proud of the students and teachers of the school who performed very well in exams. He also offered a comforting word for those who didn't do that well by stating that they should try harder to achieve their goals. Shahul Hameed Salih, the founder, Chairman and advisor to the school's board also appreciated the efforts of the teachers and students, particularly the former. “They have worked very hard to make their students capable enough to perform so well. We should thank everyone who contributed to their success,” he said. He added that the school has received 15 new visas from the Ministry of Education for new teachers, which will provide the school with more teaching talent and a new principal. “I hope next year we can replicate this academic success with more students receiving awards and medals.”
