Saudi Gazette report DAMMAM — The mother of Mishari Al-Bushal, a four-month-old child who was allegedly poisoned to death by a domestic worker, insisted that the woman should be put to death for killing her young son, a local newspaper reported on Saturday. The Dammam High Court has ruled against the execution of the Indonesian maid accused of killing the child by mixing rat poison with his milk. Mishari's mother had left the child, who was four months old at the time, in the maid's care. The mother described the court verdict as unfair, especially that the maid had confessed. The court based its ruling on the fact that the child was suffering from genetic disorders, she said, adding that it did not consider the poison level in blood and malfunctions of vital organs. The verdict was issued by a three-judge panel after a protracted trial that involved 43 court sessions over a period of three years. The prosecutor, the defendant, her lawyer, two members of the National Society for Human Rights (NSHR) and translators were present in the court room when the verdict was read out. Mashari died on June 13, 2010, some 45 days after he was admitted to hospital in critical condition.
