JEDDAH: Green and Red Houses clinched overall championships in IX-XII and VI-VIII sections respectively at the annual athletics meet for boys of the International Indian School Jeddah here this week. Green House ruled the roost in the senior section by amassing a whopping 224 points by pushing Red House to a distant second with 152 points whereas Red House topped the junior section with 172 points. Yellow and Red Houses claimed overall honors in games in IX-XII and VI-VIII sections respectively. Champion Yellow House tallied 49 points and the second-placed Red House collected 39 points. In the junior section Red House topped with 41 points and Blue House stood second with 39 points. Green House collected 191 points to take the athletics title in the senior section. Red House came second with 152 points. The honors in the junior section went to Red House which gained 131 points. Ateeque Alam (Green, 26 points), Akash Nayyar (Green, 23 points), Faizan Riyaz (Red, 31 points) and Mohammed Abdul Hakeem (Yellow, 21 points) won the individual championship in under 19, under 16, under 14 and under 12 divisions respectively. On the final day of the meet, Tijo Varghese, Head Boy of IISJ, welcomed the gathering. Principal Syed Masood Ahmed hoisted the school flag and took the salute during the march past. Sumbul Ashraf administered the oath of sportsmanship to the participants. Later, principal lit the games torch and passed it over to the athletes. The athletes were divided into four different categories according to the following age groups: under 19, under 16, under 14 and under 12. They were further grouped into four houses as Red, Blue, Green and Yellow.
