JEDDAH – The Sign Jeddah Chapter will hold a meeting of Indian school principals today at 7:00 PM at Seasons restaurant here. Alungal Muhammad, chairman and managing director of Al Abeer Medical Group, will open the meet, which will be presided by Dr. Ismail Maritheri, president of Sign Jeddah. The principals and educators who will be attending the meet are Syed Masood Ahmad, International Indian School; Humaira Naseem, Al-Falah International School -DPS); Rahmathulla, Al-Wurood International School; Smt. Padma, Novel Public School; Shanavas, Talal School; Nikhat, Buds and Blossoms School; Sathar, Al-Mawarid International School; and T.H. Darimi, Al Noor International School. "The meet is part of LEAD 2020, a joint program of Al-Abeer Medical Group and Sign Jeddah that aims at supporting talented Indian school students in the city to achieve academic excellence," said Maritheri at a press conference. In the first phase, 80 students from grades six and seven will be chosen on the basis of a qualification test. "This is first of its kind in the Kingdom," said Maritheri, who is an English lecturer at King Abdulaziz University. He urged the support of parents, teachers, schools and cultural organizations for this initiative. Maritheri added: "The program aims at reenergizing Indian students living abroad and giving them the right direction and guidance." Salah Karadan, Dr. Muhammad Kavungal, Anas Parappil and Abdul Latheif Parappuratth and Rasheed Varikkodan are among the organizers of the event.
