JEDDAH — Alungal Mohammed, Chairman and Managing Director of Al Abeer Group, was recently honored for his initiative in launching “Al Abeer Educity”, an ambitious project with an estimated budget of Rs8 billion to be implemented in Malappuram district in the southern Indian state of Kerala. Alungal Mohammed is also the champion of the proverb “From humble beginnings come great things.” Pranav Ganesh, Consul (Consular) in the Indian Consulate, chief guest at the function organized by Jeddah Keralite Forum (JKF), presented a memento to Alungal on behalf of JKF. K.T.A. Muneer read out the text of memento for the the benefit of a large audience of Indian diaspora present at the consulate premises for the event. P.P. Raheem, General Convener of JKF, welcomed the gathering, followed by the presidential address by P.T. Mohammed, Chairman of JKF. The credentials of Alungal Mohammed were presented by V. K Raoof. Ms. Joycee Joseph presented the project to the audience. The event was felicitated by K.P. Mohammed Kutty (Chairman, ODEPEC), K.M. Sherief Kunhu, Dr. S.M. Thanking the Indian community for its support in making all his ventures successful, Alungal said the “Educity” project will be the best that he could offer to the society. “Al Abeer Educity” offers integrated programs, new generation courses, research facilities and tie-ups with foreign universities. The facility caters to both NRIs and foreign students. There is also a super specialty hospital with herbal spa aimed at promoting medical tourism from the Middle East and all over the world. Investors are offered 50% of the share of the project and the rest is held by Al Abeer Medical Academy and Research Center. Educity offers educational world class facilities from KG to professional courses like medical, nursing, paramedical, engineering, and management under one umbrella. As part of its corporate social responsibility, Educity provides a certain percentage of seats free of cost to eligible economically backward students. It also has a hospital associated with its medical college which offers free treatment to the needy people. — SG
