CAIRO – Khaled Al Azhary, Minister of Manpower and Immigration in Egypt, recently inaugurated Bab Rizq Jameel Cairo branch in the presence of Engineer Mohammed Abdul Latif Jameel, Chief Job Creator at Bab Rizq Jameel (BRJ). The Egyptian branch is an initiative of BRJ International whose aim is to create job opportunities in the Arab world and Turkey. It has now 10 branches. In a press statement, Al Azhary said “undoubtedly, Bab Rizq Jameel is one of the leading projects in Egypt. Through a meeting with Engineer Mohammed Abdul Latif Jameel, we have decided to support cooperation between the Ministry of Manpower and BRJ to create 250,000 jobs for young males and females within the few coming years. This will be accomplished through several programs and initiatives provided by BRJ, including training ending with employment, direct employment, and providing easy loans. We will also cooperate to establish training institutes for maintaining Japanese automobiles, and to leverage the role of existing training institutes in a manner that links training workshops with job opportunities. Engineer Mohammed Abdul Latif Jameel thanked Al Azhary for the generosity, saying that his visit to Egypt has opened wider horizons for cooperation to create more job opportunities in Egypt. He added that plans for BRJ operation in Egypt will be developed to achieve the new goals that resulted from the visit. He expressed appreciation and gratitude to the Ministry of Manpower in Egypt, as well as other governmental authorities, for their unlimited support to BRJ in the area of job creation for young males and females. Maaz Al Faramawi, BRJ International's Executive Director, said that BRJ inaugurated its first branch in Egypt in 2009, and achieved 6,910 job opportunities in the same year. In 2012, performance of the branch was successfully upgraded, and number of job creators was increased. Accordingly, the branch created 25,862 job opportunities, representing 75 percent of the overall job opportunities created internationally. He said that in the beginning of 2012, BRJ activity in Egypt has expanded geographically and number of job creators was increased to cover five branches –Giza, Shobra, Banha, Shobra Al Khaima and Bolaq Al Dakror. Members of job creators team has been increased to cover the maximum area near each branch through all programs. The productive household program created 22,256 job opportunities, small projects finance created 2,614, truck ownership created 981 and 10 job opportunities through the direct employment program. In addition, BRJ Egypt provided support to the first case in the “broken expatriate Saudi families support program, which is implemented in cooperation with the Saudi embassy in Cairo. Accordingly, 25,862 job opportunities have been created in Egypt. Sayed Al-Ghol, BRJ Egypt director, added that the repayment ratio in BRJ Egypt for all programs has reached 99.32 percent by the end of 2012. Examples of small projects financed by BRJ Egypt include tricycle ownership, production of leather products, aluminum products, mechanics and turnery workshops, tailor workshops, jewelry, mobile phones, herbs seller, accessories and gifts, warehouses, supermarket and dairy products, honey, fruits and vegetables, confectioneries, furnishings, etc. During 2012, BRJ International branches in the Arab world and Turkey have created 34,585 job opportunities. In Saudi Arabia, BRJ has previously announced creation of 58,478 job opportunities during 2012. – SG
