JEDDAH – Schools across the Kingdom competed in a tightly contested interschool championship that tested the skills of students from grades eight to 10 in disciplines including chess, debating and quiz competitions. Al-Wurood International School, which also organized the third Peevees Fest, was one of those that excelled in the event that involved nine schools from Riyadh, Dammam, Yanbu and Jeddah. Hasan Anjum of Mahd Al-Uloom International School, Jeddah, won the junior chess championship. Amir Safar Kollathodi of Al-Falah DPS, Jeddah, and Nabeel of Shathi Al-Noor International School, Jeddah, were second and third. Ahamad Sahal of Al-Yasmin International School, Riyadh, won the senior competition. Abdul Haseeb of Shathi Al-Noor and Girish Kumar of Al-Manar International School, Yanbu, were second and third respectively. In the competitive debate competition, Pugazhendi Inban of Radhwa International School, Yanbu, and Rizin Ahmed of International Indian School, Jeddah, were first and second respectively. Affan Mohammed Nawas of Al-Wurood was third, while Mohammed Farsan of Shathi Al-Noor won a special consolation prize. The pairing of Zain Ul Uzair and Razeem Ahmed of Al-Wurood was victorious in the quiz competition. Mohd Faisal Akhtar and Daniyal Parvez of Al-Falah and Shezin Aboobacker and Mohd Jabir Ali of Shathi Al-Noor were second and third respectively. The closing ceremony took place at the Impala Garden restaurant. Al-Wurood principal K. Rahamathullah opened the event with welcoming remarks. — SG
