Published in The Saudi Gazette on 02 - 07 - 2012

JEDDAH — A workshop on Continuous Cumulative Evaluation (CCE), an education system in India, was organized Thursday in the auditorium of International Indian School, Jeddah (IISJ) girls' section.
The workshop was inaugurated by school principal Syed Masood Ahmed of IISJ and the Chapter Convener of the Central Board of Secondary Education's (CBSE) affiliated schools in the Kingdom.
Around 30 participants from eight CBSE affiliated schools in the Western Province attended the workshop. Attendees were comprised of supervisors, coordinators and teachers from Radhwa International School, Dauha Al Uloom and Al Manar School in Yanbu; Al Wurood International School, Dauha Al Uloom, Novel International School in Jeddah; Lana International School in Khamis Mushayat; Jabal Farsan International School in Rabigh; and International Indian School in Taif.
“CCE is not just a superficial and apparent change in the methodology of evaluation. It has complete logic and philosophy. It is important to understand the change for proper implementation,” said Ahmed while addressing the participants at the workshop.
The informative workshop was divided into five sessions. The participants were introduced to one another in the first session and the objectives of the workshop were highlighted by an organizer. The subsequent sessions introduced CCE in CBSE schools, the methodology of the system, methods of assessment and obstacles of its implementation.
Vice Principal Farahdunissa and Headmistress Naheed Fatima shed light on various topics concerning the CCE. The workshop came to an end with an interactive question and answer session conducted by the vice principal.
At the end of the workshop participants were handed certificates of participation. — SG
