The International Indian School Jeddah (IISJ) emerged champion of the second Peevees Cup Junior Football Championship Jeddah Zone Qualifiers at Dung Football Ground recently. IISJ beat Al-Noor International School 3-0 in the final. Both the finalists have now qualified for the final round of the Peevees Cup 2012 which will be held in Dammam in October. Ahdab International School secured the third position in the championship by shattering the dreams of host Al-Wurood International School by a solitary goal. In the first semifinal, IISJ beat Ahdab International School 1-0. In the other semifinal, Al-Wurood was shocked by Al-Noor. This event is conducted to tap and promote talent at an early age through the comradeship among the CBSE schools in the Kingdom with a greater goal of raising standard of sports and games in the schools and inculcating sportsmanship and respect for values among students. S.D. Murthy, Indian Consul, Community Welfare, was the chief guest during the closing ceremony which was also graced by V.P. Mohammed Ali, Director, Peevees Group of Schools; Victor Manjila, former Indian national goalkeeper and coach of Calicut University; A.M. Ashraf, GM, Peevees Group of Schools; K. Rahamathullah, Principal, Al-Wurood International School and Musthafa Thoppil, Manager & Finance Administration, Al-Wurood International School. The chief guest distributed the trophies and certificates. Al-Wurood school principal Rahamathullah welcomed the guests and Peter Ronald Mascarannes, Head Master, Al-Wurood International School, proposed the vote of thanks. Abdul Rehman of Al-Wurood International School won the best goalkeeper award. The best player award went to Ahmed of Ahdab International School. Al-Noor International School won the fair play award.
