The Urdu Academy Jeddah, in cooperation with the Pace Toastmasters Club - Saudi Arabia, organized a program to mark India's national education day that is observed every year in the memory of the country's first education minister, Maulana Abul Kalam Azad's birth anniversary, at the Indian consulate recently. Chief guest Sayeed Ahmed Baba, Indian Consul General, and Sayed Ahmedullah, education minister of Andhra Pradesh, along with guest of honor Shakeel Ahmed, education consul at the Indian consulate, were among those present at the event. Students from various schools in Jeddah participated with enthusiasm in the speech and quiz competitions. Judging the competitions were: Toastmasters Lazair Milikent, Junaid Siddiqui, Miraj Ansari, Iftakhar Ahmed Khan, and Saleem Qadri, secretary general of the Urdu Academy. The quiz competition was conducted by Mohammed Abdul Qudoos Javid, president of the Toastmasters Club. Baba in his speech expressed appreciation for the efforts of the Urdu Academy in organizing the event. The winners in the speech comptetion included: Nada Mir Ali of the Al-Falah International School (DPS), first; Heba Talal Habeeb of the International Indian School Jeddah (IISJ), second; and Mutaseem Sayed of the IISJ, third. Students from the IISJ, Al-Wurood International School, and DPS stood first with equal scores in the quiz competition.
