RIYADH: Security authorities in Riyadh Region have arrested two suspects in two separate robberies at knifepoint – one in Thulaim District and the second in Al-Araija, police said Saturday in a statement. The operations room of Riyadh Region security patrols received two separate calls for help from two expatriate workers who reported that they were robbed of their money at knifepoint. One of them said the assailant stabbed him and he suffered a deep cut in his right hand, the statement said. Security patrols were immediately sent to the locations where they collected information about the incidents and distributed it to authorities in the field. Search operations were intensified until one suspected assailant was spotted in a narrow street of Thulaim District and apprehended, police said. Security men found that he had three mobile telephones, one of which belonged to the man who reported the robbery, and a knife. The items were seized and the suspect was handed over to Al-Batha Police Station, police said. In another incident, security patrols arrested a man suspected of robbing money from an expatriate worker at knifepoint in a food supplies shop in Al-Araija District, police said. After receiving a report from the victim, security patrols closed all entry and exit points in Al-Araija and a patrol tracked down the suspect inside the area after confirming that his features matched descriptions given by the victim, according to a statement. He was arrested, found to have a knife and SR598 in cash and the worker identified the man, police said. The suspect and the seized items were handed over to Al-Araija Police Station for completion of procedures, police added.
