Mishal Al-Otaibi Okaz/Saudi Gazette RIYADH — A Saudi has complained to the National Society for Human Rights (NSFR) about a school principal who allegedly assaulted his son. The Ministry of Education is also accused of not responding to the father's complaint about the incident, which occurred at an elementary school in Al-Muzahmiyyah, 40 km west of Riyadh. The citizen said his son, who was in first grade, was fearful of going to school and was traumatized. He told his father that the school principal beat him because he fidgeted during prayers. He took his child to a hospital, which prepared a medical report that confirmed he had been assaulted. The father went to meet the school principal, who also apparently admitted beating the child. The principal said he would continue to beat any student who fidgets during prayers, the father said. The principal also banned the father from entering the school. The father also submitted a complaint to the Al-Muzahmiyyah governorate. The governorate and the NSHR told the father they were investigating the incident.
