Faiz Al-Najdi Saudi Gazette RIYADH — The Pakistan Embassy hosted a huge free medical camp at its premises on Friday, treating over 700 patients. The camp, organized by the Pakistan Doctor's Group-Riyadh (PDG-R), offered medical consultations, treatments, laboratory tests and medication. Pakistan Ambassador Muhammad Naeem Khan said this was the second free medical camp held this year and the fourth in total. He praised PDG-R for organizing the camp. “The Pakistani doctors are an excellent resource for us and all credit for the success of this exceptionally good free medical camp today – and before – rests with the sincere and concerted efforts of PDG-R. Together we have been able to achieve the impossible.” He also referred to the free medical clinic that runs five days a week within the embassy premises. “This free clinic is into its fifth year now and we are very proud of the Pakistani doctors for their unstinted support and timeless efforts toward making this a successful campaign.” The ambassador said with the help of Pakistani doctors in the Eastern Province he has plans to host a similar free medical clinic in the Tamimi Compound in Al-Khobar. PDG-R President Dr. Arif Hussain said the free medical camps have been conceived, planned and executed by his organization since 2011. Doctors at the camp were specialized in gynecology, ophthalmology, pediatrics, psychiatry, surgery and internal medicine, among others. He said sophisticated techniques were used to provide diagnoses to patients including ultrasound and echo cardiography “Specimens for laboratory tests were also collected and will be analyzed by established laboratories in Riyadh.” Patients are then also called in for follow-up checks at the embassy's free clinic.
