DAMMAM: To celebrate the recovery of King Abdullah, Custodian of the Two Holy Mosques, Indian expatriates in Dammam are planning to hold a blood donation campaign and free medical camp for the needy on Jan. 28.
The event will be held from 1 P.M. to 8 P.M. The blood donation campaign will continue for weeks, the organizers said at a press conference.
The Islamic Cultural Foundation of India (ICF), in association with Dar As Sihha Medical Centre, is organizing the camp. The organizers said that there will also be a health awareness program. “We are organizing this event to express our happiness and to thank the Almighty for healing our beloved King, who is very generous to the millions of expatriates in the Kingdom.
This medical camp will be beneficial for the financially needy expatriates.
More than 500 people are expected to donate their blood as a humanitarian gesture for the humanitarian King,” said one of the organizers.
Dr. Usman Malayil, Internist at Dar As Sihha Medical Centre, said there will be free consultations provided by specialist doctors. “Along with the free consultation there will also be free tests for blood sugar, cholesterol, eyes, blood pressure and pulse rate.” He said there will be a 50 percent discount for laboratory tests, x-rays, ultrasound and medicines.

The camp motto will be “Prevention is better than cure”, said Asaf Mohammed, Operations Manager of Dar As Sihha. “Those who register for the medical camp will get free consultation and other medical assistance for the next 10 days. This is a good opportunity for all needy expatriates to get their complete health checkup. Special counters are open at various centers in Dammam, Rahima, Ladies' Market, Adama, Qatif, Saihat and Khodariyya for registration.”
He said people can phone 0542033447, or 0503695716 to register.? ?He said that the blood collected from the donors will go to the Regional Blood Bank, run under the Dammam Medical Complex. “Our sister concern, ITL Tours and travels will be sponsoring the facilities for the blood donation and we expect about 500 donors,” he added.
