Syeda Amtul Saudi Gazette JEDDAH — A unique multi-cultural musical event, organized by an Indian community organization DESI Entertainers, proved a big draw. The event titled “Rowdy Adda" was held at a local restaurant on Thursday here. The program, one of its kinds, brought talent from several nations on a single stage. Participants from Saudi Arabia, Philippines, India, Pakistan, Bangladesh, Eritrea, Sudan, Yemen, Egypt and Palestine were on center stage. “Rowdy Adda" was the theme of the event, showcasing different types of rowdies from all over the globe. Mohammed Al Mohammedi, founder of DESI Entertainers, and Saudi Badar Mufti hosted the event. The curtain opened with a 12-year-old Indian girl Sajini Saleem singing a Bollywood song. It was followed by a heart-pumping dance by young brothers Farhan and Faraz Ahmed to the Indian number of “Chinta Ta Ta Chita Chita." Rehanna Saleem another talented Indian singer mesmerized the audience by singing three songs in Hindi, Arabic and Pashto. Saudi Arabia's newest sensation Mohammed Al Ahdal was a part of this multi-cultural event and sang three melodious Arabic songs, one of which was “Akid ya hayati." Sara Khan of Bangladesh caught the eye with her funky and melodious voice when she sang the item songs “Dhinka chika" and “Munni Badnam hui." Donna Nagoy, who has been wowing the Filipino community in the Kingdom, sang three English songs in her melodious voice, especially “My Immortal" by Evanescence and “My Heart Will Go On" from the movie Titanic. Speaking to Saudi Gazette, Nagoy said: “It was nice to see people from many nations performing together. It is a start of something new and it was dynamic." An action skit by Budokan karate club taught the attendees the basics of self-defense. Dawar Khan, an Indian, entertained the audience with his “mimicry". Hammoud and Abbas, the young musicians from Pakistan, won the hearts of the people with their amazing rendition. “It was something different. Many cultures coming together at one place was like seeing different colors and it was nice," said Al Ahdal. Hafiz aka Heart Broken Kid (HBK) sang a vocal self-compilation of sad songs without music and showcased his talent. HKGO a dance group of seven members from Philippines performed various dance numbers and amazed the audience with the sensational “Michael Jackson dance" and “Gangnam style". The true sense of the event was found in a Hip-Hop dancing group called Bfam group, which comprised eight members from Saudi Arabia, Sudan , Eritrea, India, Pakistan and Yemen performing together. The event was well organized by Mohammed Al Mohammedi (founder of DESI entertainers), Badar Mufti, Zubair (prince Sahil),Waheed Al Idrees, Shaista Baig, Asim Mazher, Arshad , Faisal and all the DESI Entertainers members. “We were successful in getting multi-talented people performing on a single platform and the concept of bringing different cultures together was a hit," said Al Mohammedi. “Bfam" group had set the stage on fire with their energetic and bone cracking performance. Amjad Khan, an Indian singer, sang melodies of old Bollywood hits. “Desi Boys" held a fashion show of models dressed up as rowdies from different countries like Mexico, America, India, Pakistan, Italy, among others and it was truly an eye-catcher for the audience. An online contest for Mr and Ms Rowdy was on for over two months and the winners were Fysal Ali and Ms. Noreen Akhtar respectively and were presented with cash gifts and a VIP invite to all the DESI events. The event's sponsors were Giordano, Kawasaki, Media Spot Advt. and FUCHS. Food was served by Tasty Taste Restaurant. “It was a chancy to try something new, to try to get many cultures together. We are happy that we succeeded in starting a new sensation and our hard work has paid off," said Zubair, a dance coordinator of DESI Entertainers.
