Hatem Al-Masoudi Okaz/Saudi Gazette MAKKAH — Makkah traffic police is investigating charges that a traffic patrol pursuit of a car ended in a deadly accident. Two of the car's youth occupants died, and the third suffered minor injuries when their car ran into an electric pole and then a tree in Al-Hajj Street before Jabal Al-Noor traffic light. A witness confirmed that the car was speeding, and was being hotly pursued by a patrol car. When the accident occurred, the patrol car was a few meters behind the youth car. The family of one of the dead youth accused the traffic police of slamming the car from behind causing the car to lose control. The family asked the Governorate and the Ministry of Interior for a quick investigation into the accident. In one of the quirkiest coincidence, the father of one of the dead boys also died in a car accident 17 years ago, on the same day and date. The mother of one of the dead boy suffered a nervous breakdown as she lost her only son. The accident survivor said that there was no pursuit. Lt. Col. Fawzy Al-Ansari of Makkah police said that the families of the dead youth have taken receipt of their sons' bodies.
