An Algerian pilgrim, 62, jumped to his death from the 10th floor in a Ajyad hotel within the proximity of the Grand Mosque in Makkah in an apparent suicide on Friday, authorities said. The pilgrim, whose name was not released, arrived in the Kingdom to perform Haj a few days ago. The man's companions, who came with him for Haj, said that he suffered a psychological disorder believing that being dead in Makkah would grant him a divine entry into Paradise. The body was taken to the morgue at King Faisal Hospital in Shishah. Ajyad police are investigating the death, said Maj. Abdulmohsin Al-Maiman, spokesman of Makkah Police.
