Abdulrahman Al-Ali Okaz/Saudi Gazette JEDDAH – Jeddah police have arrested two Palestinian nationals for cheating and robbing expatriates by impersonating security personnel. In addition one of them was charged with kidnapping a juvenile. The Palestinians were caught after two Bangladeshi nationals reported to the Al-Kandrah police that they were stopped by two individuals posing as security men and were robbed of SR3,500 on threat of being jailed for different offenses. The Bangladeshis were then surprised to see the Palestinians trying to extort an Indonesian driver near their home. They hid nearby, on seeing them, and witnessed the two fake security men beat up the driver for refusing their demands. Al-Kandrah police, already on the lookout for these two men at regular hangouts and suspicious locations, were surprised to see one of the Palestinian come to the station to report the theft of his car. He was detained as he matched the descriptions given by the victims. The security team then caught on to the other suspect and followed him around before detaining him. Information revealed that he was into cheating expatriate laborers and there were also reports of his involvement in kidnapping a juvenile. Jeddah police spokesman First Lieut. Nawwaf Al-Boog confirmed the arrest of the offenders. “Investigations are underway, and they will be referred to the Bureau of Investigation and Public Prosecution.”
