RIYADH — The 29th Annual Day of International Indian School, Riyadh was recently celebrated at the school's premises. The event was presided by chief guest Hamid Ali Rao, Ambassador of India to the Kingdom of Saudi Arabia. Other esteemed guests in attendance were chairman Aslam Meer Mohiddin, members of the managing committee, principal Dr. Shaukat Perwez, special guests Mussaid Al Mohsin Al Mujahid, supervisor from the Ministry of Education and Ashok Warrier, first secretary of Embassy of India, Riyadh and observer of International Indian Schools in the Kingdom. The ambassador delivered an enlightening speech on teacher-student relationship. ‘Live as if you will die tomorrow, learn as if you will live forever' was the cornerstone of his motivational speech. The school managing committee appreciating the efforts of the principal and staff highlighted their achievements. He appreciated V. Anirudhan who officiated principal's office for a short duration. In the welcome address, the principal stressed on the need of today's younger generation to develop the ability to discriminate the right from the wrong. The annual report of the school was a presentation delivered by vice principal Asma Shah. Proficiency awards were given to meritorious students of grades 10 - 12 and merit certificates were awarded to toppers of various subjects. Air India honoured the top ranking students of grade 10 by giving them air tickets. Al Mujahid appreciated the smooth functioning of the school; and the members of administrative and academic staff who completed 25, 20 and 10 years of services were felicitated. The school honored Abin Paulose, Ashish Salguna , Emani Shireen and Sara Mariam Jacob as the best students. The vote of thanks was proposed by vice principal of boys' section Meera Rehman. A variety of entertainment programs staged by students from KG to grade 8 was very scintillating. — SG
