QATIF — A court in Qatif ruled that an abusive husband must enroll in a 10-day training program on how to treat his wife, Al-Yaum newspaper reported Wednesday. The husband, who apparently abused his wife and bruised her body, was also sentenced to 30 lashes in a public place. He is required to pass a written examination on the completion of the training and perform social work for three hours a day at the Dammam Mental Hospital. The hospital director has been asked to submit a report to the court on the man's performance during probation. The case was investigated by Qatif police, where the wife had come seeking refuge. — SG
