JEDDAH – The oath taking ceremony of Pakistan International School Jeddah's (English Section) [PISJ-ES], Student Council Members (2012-2013) took place on Sunday, Nov. 11. It was followed by marking the 126th birth anniversary of the national poet, philosopher and a great leader, and inceptor of Pakistan Allama Mohammed Iqbal. The Principal and Senator of Pakistan, Sehar Kamran, expressed her profound gratitude to the distinguished guests, Vice Counsellor of Turkey and media representatives. Kamran enlightened the audience about the aims and objectives of the Student Council. “Constitution of the Student Council in PISJ-ES is a part of our Student leadership development program. It is the process of involving students in meaningful ways both in and beyond the classroom, with an objective to provide them with the podium where they can exercise and exhibit their abilities. They can demonstrate their talents, skills and interests in an organized manner.” She added: “Our commitment is to achieve and maintain excellence in education. We feel pride in educating and grooming the future architects of Pakistan. And while striving to achieve our unparalleled goals and high academic standards, we are also trying to provide all possible opportunities to our students with an objective to groom their personalities, instill confidence, and prepare them to face the challenges of life. I wish to give my students rock solid foundation and inculcate in them sublimity of thoughts.” Kamran congratulating all the elected Council Members and Class Prefects. She said she had high expectations and she is confident that the students will prove themselves worthy of the trust bestowed on them. Students recited one of Allama Iqbal poems “Lab Pey Ati hai Dua” and Awais Zaheer recited Kalam-e-Iqbal. The elected Council Members then took oath to fulfil their obligations and carry out responsibilities for the welfare of every student and class in the school and were awarded with badges and certificates. The Presidents of the Student Council Ibrahim Qureshi and Hafsa Khan shared their thoughts with the fellow students. Ibrahim Qureshi, president for boys, said that it was a matter of great pride to be elected as the President of the Student Council. It is a huge responsibility and he would to do his level best to work for the betterment of fellow students and the school. Hafsa Khan, president for girls, thanked the founder of the PISJ-ES Student Council. The program concluded with the cake cutting ceremony. — SG
