Abdulrahman Al-Ali Saudi Gazette JEDDAH — Three persons have been arrested for allegedly carrying out armed robberies in the Eastern Province. Acting on a report that a real estate office, a cell phone shop and a shop selling cooking gas were robbed at gunpoint, security authorities rushed to the site in Al-Jash town in Al-Qatif governorate and cordoned off the area. The culprits, reports said, allegedly threatened the shop owners with guns and fled with the cash. Security patrols passed on the information on the alleged culprits to personnel in the field who were able to arrest the three suspects. One of them was apprehended as he was planning another robbery at a shop in Mayas Market in downtown Al-Qatif. The suspect was injured in the thigh while he resisted arrest. The other two were apprehended as they tried to escape on a motorbike. The vehicle used in the robberies turned out to be a stolen one from Taroot town. Security men found several stolen mobile phone sets, a cash register, amounts of cash, a pistol and several live bullets and empty bullet casings. Several face masks were also found. Authorities concerned in Al-Qatif are completing preparations to refer the case to the Bureau of Investigation and Prosecution.
