A security patrol arrested four Saudis, a Burmese and two Bangladeshis on the charge of trying to stage an armed robbery after breaking into a workers' compound at Kilo 14, east of Jeddah, Tuesday night. The men were allegedly armed with knives and iron rods. Preliminary investigations showed that they had sneaked into the compound and robbed some of the workers of their possessions –mobiles and cash totaling SR8,000. The two Bangladeshis are suspected to have cased the compound for the others who planned out the robbery attempt. They claimed that they were passport police when they knocked the door, and took the workers inside by surprise. Police Capt. Al-Essemi who was patrolling the area received a report about the theft and started looking for the culprits. He suspected a car full of men and stopped it, ordering them to get out. On searching the car, the captain found SR8730 and two cellular phones in a hidden pocket in the car. The patrol police handed the culprits to the security authorities at Al-Nozha police station. On interrogation, five of the men confessed to their crime. The Bangladeshis said they had led the gangsters to the workers' compound. __
