Semifinals lineup set for Afternoon tourney

China Southern Airlines, My Care Hala Green, Desert Lions and Al-Safree made it to the Western Province Cricket Association (WPCA) Afternoon Tournament semifinals following hard-fought quarterfinal wins here recently.
China Southern Airlines beat Zultrack by 55 runs. Electing to bat first China Southern Airlines managed 184 in 20 overs through Awais (40), Qasim Butt (17), Asim (44) Tauseef (34 not out) and Fahad (16). Rashid took 2-50 and Naveed 2-20 as Imran, Subail and Mubeen claimed a wicket each. Zultrack, in response, lost early wickets to be tottering at 80-5 as Khadim made 21, Chand 29, Rashed 24 and Imtiyaz 22. Owais then mesmerized the opposition with his flighted deliveries to claim four wickets. He also had a hand in two run-outs as the team bundled out for 129. Owais had figures of 4-28, Adalat 2-26 as Farooq and Fahad took one wicket each.
My Care Hala Green beat Juffali AMI by 26 runs. My Care Hala Green opted to bat first. It lost Salman and Farhad early, but Azhar (59) added 58 runs for the third wicket with Yasir (113 not out). Yasir single-handedly took the team's tally to 216-8 in 20 overs. Emad took 2-33, while Asif, Rafi Gujjar, Shaboor, Najam and Zafar bagged one wicket each. Juffali AMI in reply was off to a flying start (67 without a wicket) as Nadeem (37) and Imad (42) played fluently. Owais, however, made an impact in his first over as he took two quick wickets to reduce Juffali AMI to 71-2, from where it failed to recover and crumbled to 154-6. It needed 71 runs off 30 balls with four wickets in hand. Imran added 26 and Mustafa 23 as Juffali AMI could only score 190-9. Atta claimed 4-37, Aftab 2-29 and Owais 2-24.
Desert Lions beat Fuchs Alhamrani by 15 runs. Put into bat Desert Lions piled up 163-9 as Mifras hit 46, Romesh 28, Ramazan 25 while Umar and Rehan scored 13 each. Razzak took 2-21, Mukhtar 2-27, Irfan 2-47 and a wicket each went to Subhan, Rakeb and Rashed. Fuchs Alhamrani made a poor start and was eventually bundled out for 148. Irfan made 27, Khoban 35 and Razzaq 24. Romesh claimed 3-28, Ramazan 2-27 while one wicket each went to Philips, Ramazan and Rehan.
Al-Safree defeated MCC by 14 runs. Al-Safree opted to bat first and maintained a run rate of over 10/over despite losing wickets at regular intervals. Opener Saeed (24) put on 58 runs for the first wicket with Munib (42). Manjeet added 30, Aftab Malik remained unbeaten on 58, while Wasiq Sherwani scored a quick-fire 17 to take the tally to 210-6. Aftab Khan scalped 2-22 and Asif 2-27 as Nasir claimed one.
MCC, in reply, sent Zahoor up the order, but he returned after adding 35. Aftab Khan also returned cheaply as Nasir added 18, Aamer Shahzad 18 and Asif remained unbeaten on 27 to take the team tally to 196. Aftab Malik shone with the ball as well as he took 3-26, Manjeet 2-31, Wasiq 2-46, while a wicket each went to Abdulrauf and Shakil.
In the Summer Afternoon Tournament, AOT Youngsters beat Dopco Green by five wickets. Batting first Dopco Green made 146 through Waqas (39), Zeeshan (21), Tariq (18) and Ali Nawaz (14). Afzal scalped 4-24, Shahid 2-22 as a wicket each fell to Ahmed and Fareed. AOT Youngsters, in reply, was home (150) for the loss of five wickets with 21 balls to spare. Shahid made 62 and Aqeel 42 as they added 91 runs for the second wicket. Jamshed and Saif took two wickets each, while Faiz accounted for one.
In another match United Cricket Club (UCC) beat Contraco on technical grounds.
