RIYADH — The Patron-in-Chief of Riyadh Cricket Association (RCA), Prince General Dr. Abdulaziz Bin Nasser Bin Abdulaziz, has appointed renowned cricketer Tariq Javed as the new president of the association. Earlier Tariq Javed met with Prince General Dr. Abdulaziz at his office and discussed the association's activities. Javed thanked Prince Abdulaziz for putting trust in him for the office. Javed is a well-respected cricketer who has represented Canada at the 1979 Cricket World Cup. The letter issued by the patron also states that the former president of the association, Abdul Qadeer Mirza, has been relieved from his responsibilities. Nadeem Babar has meanwhile been appointed as the association's Cricket Development Manager. He has been given the task to improve, organize and administrate cricket in the region. Later during a meeting of the RCA ad hoc committee, the members welcomed the new president. Speaking on the occasion, Babar, Nasir Khan, Abdul Karim Khan, Raziuddin and Nasir Abbasi expressed their all-out support to Javed. — SG
