JEDDAH — Jeddah security police arrested two young men who tried to kidnap a young woman at Al-Bawadi district. The kidnappers followed the victim onto a side street, where they got out from a car and forced her inside. The victim was able to remain calm and convince the two young men, who were in an unstable condition, that she was willing to cooperate with them. They asked her to call a friend to accompany them, but she called the police operations room, where she identified herself and kept repeating that she was with friends who were taking her to a north Jeddah neighborhood. This alerted the communications dispatcher who asked her to answer with a yes or no to his queries. He was successful in obtaining information about the car's color, size and direction. She was able to communicate their location near a well-known store at Hera'a Street. She then pretended to turn off her mobile, but left it on so that the dispatcher could hear the conversation inside the car. Police patrols were alerted, and the victim convinced her kidnappers that she would call her friend, but instead called the operations room, and gave further details, and that the kidnappers were armed with a gun. Police were successful in locating the car and arresting the kidnappers, and the girl was released. Jeddah police spokesman Brig. Misfer Al-Juaid said the armed kidnappers were in an unstable condition, and they had liquor in their possession.
