RIYADH – Police in Riyadh nabbed a gang of men who allegedly burgled and robbed several stores. During Ramadan they were suspected of breaking into a car showroom in east Riyadh, stealing checks and promissory notes and beating up the security guard before speeding off with a stolen GMC from the showroom. The showroom owner provided police with CCTV footage, which a Riyadh police spokesman said leaked onto social media sites, making investigators' attempts to arrest the perpetrators more difficult. However, Riyadh police launched an exhaustive search for the suspects, which included four Saudis and an expatriate in their 20s. One of the suspects was arrested and gave up the locations of his accomplices to the police. During investigations, the suspects admitted that they planned out the whole robbery before carrying it out.
