HAIL — Police in Al-Neairiah town were able to solve the mysterious death of an Emirati citizen 12 years ago after an Iraqi turned himself in claiming that he had illegally entered the country and wanted to go back home. The Iraqi was transferred to Al-Neairiah police station, where he folded under intense questioning, and confessed that he and two other Iraqis shot the Emirati dead in Sahmah and stole his car. He also confessed to ambushing a Saudi camel herder, and selling his camels for SR200,00 and taking off in his car. The security spokesman for the Eastern Province police, Ziad Al Reghati, said that investigators in Al-Olaya village and Al-Neairiah region police were able to link many unsolved criminal cases to the Iraqi. Interrogations revealed his involvement in a number of murder and theft cases, and his confession has been recorded. The spokesman said a search is under way for his two accomplices in the murder that took place in the year 2000. The Emirati was shot by the Iraqis when he tried to prevent them from escaping with his car. He bled to death after the Iraqis fled the scene in his car. — SG
