Attempt to smuggle large quantities of qat foiled

AL-LAITH – Highway patrol officers on the coastal road in northern Al-Laith foiled on Thursday an attempt to smuggle large quantities of qat into Jeddah. The contraband was stashed inside a truck carrying wood.
Officers got suspicious about the truck and asked the Pakistani driver to pull over and show them his ID. The driver got nervous and officers say it was apparent that he was scared. When the officers searched the truck, they found the qat. He was arrested and taken to a nearby police station.
