Madinah Highway Patrol on Friday seized 35 kilograms of heroin which was stashed inside the spare tire in a car's trunk. Highway patrol officers pulled over a car after noticing suspicious behavior and discovered the heroin while conducting a search of the vehicle. Brig. Misfer Al-Asadi, director of Highway Patrol Department, told Al-Madinah newspaper that the heroin was discovered during a traffic stop. “The driver was on his way to Madinah to deliver the drugs but he was nabbed by highway patrol officers and referred to the Narcotics Department in Madinah.” “All highway patrol officers will continue to remain vigilant and pull over any suspicious vehicles on the highway,” Brig. Al-Asadi said. Despite the painstaking efforts exerted by the authorities, the Kingdom has constantly been targeted by drug traffickers.
