YANBU – An Asian housemaid in Yanbu allegedly cut the throat of a four-year-old girl using a cleaver on Wednesday. Police found the decapitated body of the girl in a pool of blood. They said the housemaid took the girl into a room and committed the murder before she locked the apartment and sat in the corner of the room motionless. The murder took place Wednesday in the city's Al-Ayoun neighborhood. According to the girl's mother, a teacher in Yanbu, she and her two daughters arrived at their home and started knocking on the door when they found it locked. When the housemaid did not open the door, the woman called her husband, a Saudi Aramco employee, and told him that something suspicious was happening inside the apartment and the housemaid did not want to open the door. The husband called the Civil Defense and also left work to investigate. As he was speeding home he ran a red light and collided with another car, killing the driver. A girl who was traveling in the victim's car was seriously injured. Both the girl and the Aramco employee, who also suffered serious injuries, were rushed to hospital. Meanwhile, the Civil Defense rescue team broke down the apartment door and rushed into the little girl's room to find her lying in a pool of blood. The housemaid was sitting motionless in a corner of the room and was taken into custody. Police later discovered that the woman tried to commit suicide after the gruesome act by drinking Clorox bleach. She was admitted to hospital where she is reported to be in stable condition. When the mother saw her daughter's body, she fell unconscious and was taken to hospital. Col. Fahd Al-Ghanam, spokesman for Madinah police, said investigations with the housemaid are still ongoing.
