Maher Abbas Saudi Gazette RIYADH – Saudi Minister of Agriculture Dr. Fahd Balghunaim inaugurated Tuesday the Observatory of Basic Food Commodities at a ceremony held at the Riyadh Chamber of Commerce and Industry. The observatory was launched by the chamber in cooperation with the chair of King Abdullah bin Abdulaziz for Food Security at King Saud University. The observatory is an important step in the efforts of the Ministry of Agriculture to provide the food needs of citizens. Balghunaim hailed the role which will be played by the observatory in providing the necessary information and data relating to quantities and prices of strategic food commodities, impact on food security system, help of all the relevant authorities to take sound decisions and measures and support for efforts to achieve agricultural development. The observatory's mission is to provide statistics and information on agricultural activities for strategic goods locally and globally, speakers said during the event.
