RIYADH: The Riyadh Chamber of Commerce and Industry's Food Security Committee and the King Abdullah Bin Abdul Aziz Chair for Food Security at King Saud University are drawing up a study of basic food product prices for the next 10-years. The measure, which is designed to identify the basic products, their producing countries and the factors affecting rises in their prices, involves setting up a monitoring system for price forecasts to help in the periodical monitoring of basic food products. A memorandum was recently signed between the two parties, with Sa'ad Al-Khareef, Chairman of the Riyadh Chamber's Food Security Committee, in attendance. “This cooperation is very important and will produce joint benefits between the Chamber and the Chair, helping to involve scientific research in the presentation of views and guidance in the work of the committee,” Al-Khareef said. “The Chamber's Food Security Committee aims to learn from the scientific experience and efforts offered by the King Abdullah Bin Abdul Aziz Chair for Food Security in terms of studies and research and strategic plans for information projects to assist the goals it is working to achieve.”
