Pip R. PlanasJEDDAH — Pin Slasher beat X-Alley in a high-scoring match 3,750-3,734 to again finish as Team of the Week during the seventh week of action in the FEDBG Friday Morning Bowling League 12th conference at the Bowling City here recently.
Team captain Roger Daquioag led the Bulls with 676. He was edged by Andy Yumena, who emerged as the Bowler of the Week, with 678 points for the X-Alley. The opening match was actually split at 2-2 wherein Bulls took scratch set at 1,079-1,065 and X-Alley pursed the handicapped total at 1,217-1,185.
But with the Pin Slasher bettering its output on the remarkably games of Garry Raymundo (640), Dariel Loquias (628) and Tito Cruz (623). They rewrote the lead of X-Alley in the last two sets of 1,313-1,291 and 1,252-1,226 on above average support of May Lourdes (595) and Carling Constantino (588).
Such sterling defense placed the Bulls on advantage so that though Archie Santos (606), Danny Manriza (602), Peps Niera (630), Alma Baylon (610) and team head Ali Ibn (608) posted all-600 and up games, X-Alley turned out high-scoring loser. Yumena won the Bowler of the Week honor on games of 213, 229 and 236, beating Dauioag who missed back-to-back accolade by two pins — 235, 216 and 225.
Ball Care did not let rivals retaliate after marginally leading on the opening salvo with team captain Emil Payongayong heading his squad with 226 on their 1,215-1,105 wallop of Fire Fox. Neophyte Melo Amano tried to ignite Fox with 223, but Mart Lising backed Payongayong up with 213 to have Mongoose follow up with 1,193-1,161. Those two backbone-breaking sets of BCT weakened their rivals so that their cool off of 1,035-997 totally crippled the Fox at 3,443-3,263 with TC Payongayong guiding with 619, to which Lising, Nards Hassan, Rod Lofamia, Grace Funtilon and Caloy Nuguit responded well with 582, 551, 585, 580 and 526, respectively. Team manager Eva Garcia topped the shield of Fire Fox with 610 with Amano supporting best with 586.
Other matches showed that Pin Rockers emptied D'Mountaineers, Petromin Express and Shawly Bowlers Dragon respectively edged Ekis-3 and Micah's Pride Tigers at 11-9 and Lance & 3rdy scored 20 points in their unopposed match. Royal Strikers Lion snapped Fed Extreme at 16-4 despite Matet Cavite's sterling total of 622, which gained the Yanbu-based kegler of her second Bowler of the week reputation on her defensive games of 229, 195 and 198.
Team standings after seven sessions: Lance & 3rdy – 161, Pin Slasher – 153, Ekis-3 – 150, Pin Rockers – 143, Fed Extreme – 135, Shawly Bowlers – 126, Micah's Pride – 124, Petromin Express – 116, Royal Strikers – 114, Ball Care – 113, D' Mountaineers – 97, X-Alley – 83, Fire Fox – 78.
