Okaz/Saudi Gazette JEDDAH – The Board of Directors of Okaz Organization for Press and Publication has decided to set up an independent company for electronic publishing concerned with new media. The new company is expected to make an unprecedented leap in scientific and professional presence in the Arab and Islamic media arena. After presenting the project to the board members, Abdullah Saleh Kamel, Chairman of the Board of Directors, tasked an executive committee to complete studies on the financial and professional viability of the project. Kamel asked the executive committee, chaired by Dr. Waleed Arab Hashim, to prepare a complete project report and present to the board within a short period. The executive committee is set to meet Saturday to discuss details of the project. At the board meeting held at the chairman's residence Wednesday evening, the board members approved the final draft of the organizational regulations for the organization's auditing committee. The decision to form the committee follows the organization's keenness to improve administrative performance and implement the highest quality standards in auditing and accountancy. The committee, to be headed by Hussein Ali Shobokshi, will be an independent supervisory entity responsible for effectively laying down and revising policies. Other members of the committee are Waleed Muhammad Bin Mahfooz and Mazin Iyad Madani. The committee will report to the Board of Directors and give it a presentation on the results of its work. Wednesday's board meeting was attended by deputy chairman Dr. Waleed Arab Hashim, and board members Abdullah Khayat, Tariq Fad'aq and Hussein Shobokshi as well as Waleed J. Kattan, director general of the organization; Dr. Hashim Abdu Hashim, Editor-in-Chief of Okaz newspaper, and Ahmad Al-Battah, secretary of the board.
