RIYADH — Pak Shaheen and Riyadh Fighters were crowned Super League and Premier League champions, respectively, of the RCA T20 Summer Cup 2012 here recently. The Super League final saw Pak Shaheen beat Lahore Lions by 24 runs. Aided by all-round performance from Abdul Salaam (60 runs and 3 wickets for 2 runs) and a brisk innings from A. Wahab (27), Abdul Qadar (26) and Javeed Khan (37) Pak Shaheen managed a fighting score of 208. Jamshed and Mohammed Nawaz took three wickets each. Lahore Lions in reply were off to a weak start, losing their star batsman Salman Butt early. Mansoor managed to steady the innings along with captain Omar Zafar. However, a rash shot sent Mansoor packing for 34. Zafar was out for 65. Muzzaffar's late burst of 30 was too little, too late as the Lions were bowled out for 184. Abdul Salaam took 3-2, while Javeed Khan and Abdul Waheed bagged two wickets each, conceding 25 and 4 runs respectively. Abdul Salaam of Pak Shaheen was named the Man of the Match for his superb all-round performance. In the Premier League final Riyadh Fighters, batting first, scored a thrilling two-run victory over Attieh Steel. Electing to bat first, Riyadh Fighters scored 199. Mubasher top-scored with a fluent innings of 75, while Imran Younes (36), Hameed (45) and Tasaq Hussain (21) made notable contributions. Chasing an achievable target, Attieh Steel started well, but the fall of Ramzan's wicket sent shudders down Attieh Steel lineup , which collapsed dramatically to lose the match by two runs. Mubasher of Riyadh Fighters was named the Man of the Match for his elegant innings. In Thursday League final Pak Shaheen scored a 4-wicket win over KFSH Blues. Batting first, KFSH Blues scored 148 with Khurram Baig (31) and Sohail Nawaz Abbasi (28) scoring the bulk of the runs. In reply Pak Shaheen romped home in 19.3 overs for the loss of six wickets. Saqib Abbasi took 2-32 for KFSH Blues. YCL President Akram Qureshi, who saw the finals, appreciated RCA's efforts in promoting cricket. He extended an invitation to RCA to play inter-city matches with YCL at their grounds in Yanbu.
