Abdul Aziz Ghazawee Okaz/Saudi Gazette JEDDAH – 18,000 properties in Rabwah, Al-Nuzha and Al-Faisaliya districts in Jeddah will be connected to the city's sewage network, said a senior official from the National Water Company (NWC). The NWC signed four new contracts worth SR200 million to implement the project after Ramadan, the official added. “We signed two contracts with national companies worth SR85 million to connect 9,000 houses in Al-Safa district with the city's sewage network. The first phase covers 50 percent of Al-Safa district houses.” Contractors started working on obtaining necessary permits from Jeddah Mayoralty after which they will start excavation works, the official noted. Over 5,000 sewage connections have been made in Al-Bawadi, Al-Salamah and Al-Marwah neighborhoods, he added. “The second phase will be implemented in mid-2013 and includes 72,000 sewage connections while the third and final stage will start in 2015 and see 30,000 connections being made in districts in South Jeddah,” the official said. “When these connections are in place, we'll stop using sewage disposal trucks in 2015.”
