Published in The Saudi Gazette on 18 - 10 - 2011

The Filipino Expatriate Damayan Bowling once again successfully commenced a 14-team league with Ruben Gri?o, Farida de Guzman, Robert Stone and Aisah Silabay showing individual prowess on the first two sessions of the Friday Morning Bowling League 11th conference at the Bowling City here.
Gri?o and de Guzman respectively led EKIS XX and New Alignment against Lance & 3rdy and Dr. Hassan Hijazi Team with Bowler of the Week winning defense of 663 and 643. Despite the individual performances they were not able to tow their teams to supremacy as defending champion EKIS, captained by engineer Ernie Geslani, succumbed to Ric Reformado-headed Lance & 3rdy at 3,445-3,373 for a 13-7-point settlement. Lance & 3rdy, managed by Evelyn Santoc, relinquished game 1 (1,160-1,122) but shut out the last two games at 1,199-1,165 and 1,124-1,048 when Reformado squarely matched Gri?o. With firm support from Lance & 3rdy Reformado guided teammates with 660 on games of 191, 224 and 245 for 660 scratch total to be 3 pins behind BOW Gri?o who scored 228, 220 and 215.
Same scenario happened to New Alignment albeit de Guzman was steady with her average and her Bobby Baraquel-led team marginally eclipsed Game 1 (1,330-1,121), Dr. Hassan Hijazi team enabled to regroup and swept the last two games. Robert de Guzman defended DHHT with his 645 on handicapped games of 202, 228 and 215. Dr. Hassan Hijazi team retaliated on sets of 1,183-1,103 and 1,172-1,129 to be consequential winner on points at 11-9, though New Alignment enabled to safeguard the overall total pinfalls at 3,562-3,476 with BOW Farida sharing best on games of 213, 198 and 232. Mao Orolfo provided best support to Robert at 600 for the Fedelyn Bustinera managed DHHT, while Fully Tabio planked Farida well with 608 for NA.
In the second week, Robert Stone and Aisah Silabay led The Mountaineers in ransacking Royal Strikers which match submitted lopsided battled with the Joel Nidoy-led team blanking the June Estefano-captained squad signing at 3,643-3,210. This success gave triple honors to Mountaineers as they emerged as the Team of the Week while Stone and Silabay garnered the Bowler of the Week accolade on their respective superb offense of 735 and 664, thus holding the current hi-series with handicap records. Top supporters of Stone and Silabay on this capital harvest of Mountaineers were Edres Mangoda 611 and Ding dela Rosa 609 while it was Alona Antinero that remarkably counter-bowled for Royal Strikers at 609.
Team of the Week of the opening session was Micah's Pride on the expense of Shawly Computers on 20-0 (3,658-3,307) submission. Placing Micah's Pride on pedestal were Jack Jarin 647, Ronnie de Castro 621, Ester Santoc 612, Ruel Santoc 601, Ellen Bernabe 592 and Oca Bernabe 585. Shawly Computers team captain Nestor Sa?osa put up the greatest defense at 636 but no avail.
