The first ever mega recruitment company opened for business Saturday in Riyadh, said Saad Al-Badah, head of the National Committee for Recruitment at the Saudi Council for Chambers of Commerce. He said the first batch of the domestic helpers recruited by the company is scheduled to arrive within one and a half month, according to a report in Al-Hayat newspaper reported. He added that housemaids who are being recruited are trained as the company made it mandatory for the recruitment agencies abroad to train the maids prior to their arrival to the Kingdom. He said overall recruitment costs are yet to be determined following the completion of the studies being carried out by specialists. According to him, this is the only mega recruitment company in the Kingdom that has obtained a permanent license. The remaining companies only have temporary licenses. Muhammad Abu Sarhad, member of the recruitment committee at the Riyadh Chamber of Commerce and owner of a private recruitment office, said such companies could go bankrupt because of the fierce competition which is not in the interest of the national economy. Instead he suggests the setting up of four regional companies and that this would make it easier for the Ministry of Labor to control recruitment fees. He said it will also enable these companies to function within their geographic boundaries and save them from losses that they may incur due to competition.
