Six people enjoying their meals were trapped and injured inside a restaurant at Al-Jamia District here Monday as the roof of the eatery collapsed, sending down tons of debris on them. Civil Defense teams rushed to the scene equipped with sonar devices to detect sounds beneath the rubble. Lt. Col. Saeed Sarhan, spokesman of Civil Defense in Makkah region, attributed the cause of the accident to weak supporting pillars of the wooden roof. “The whole roof caved in and injured six people; four were treated on the spot while the other two with slight injuries were taken to a nearby hospital.” Meanwhile, in a repair shop in north Jeddah, Civil Defense battled a fire that had started suddenly. A Filipino and a Bangladeshi repair shop workers suffered slight burns and were taken to King Fahd Hospital. The Civil Defense investigation team has not yet determined the cause of the fire. __
