The private sector in the Organization of Islamic Cooperation (OIC) member states should promote agricultural development by establishing agro-industries. This is expected to bring together leading players in both the public and private sectors in order to reduce the post-harvest destruction of agricultural products, Prof. Ekmeleddin Ihsanoglu, OIC Secretary General, has said. Addressing the recent 2nd Sharjah Business Forum, Ihsanoglu said the current Trade Preferential System (TPSOIC) entered into force following the completion of all procedures necessary for its take-off. Ihsanoglu pointed out that the system aims to promote intra-trade through an exchange of preferential benefits among states involved in the framework.
