Pak signs trade agreement with OIC

Ambassador of Pakistan to Saudi Arabia Admiral Shahid Karimullah (Retd.) signs the Trade Preferential System (TPS) – OIC (Organization of the Islamic Conference) Rules of Origin at OIC General Secretariat in Jeddah recently as OIC Secretary General Ekmeleddin Ihsanoglu looks on. Pakistan is the 8th OIC member state to sign the Rules of Origin, which will come into force on January 1, 2009 with the Trade Preferential system between member states. The ambassador said that the agreement will strengthen trade and economic linkages and promote Islamic solidarity within the OIC. “The Trade Preferential System is an important step towards expanding the intra-OIC trade and it is hoped that the trade will be enhanced from 14% to 20% by the year 2015 as envisaged in the OIC 10
