The Secretary General of the Organization of the Islamic Cooperation (OIC), Professor Ekmeleddin Ihsanoglu, has urged the private sector in the OIC Member States to work towards agricultural development by establishing a linkage of agro-industries expected to bring together leading players in both public and private sectors in order reduce post-harvest destruction of agricultural products. This was contained in a speech delivered recently by the Secretary General at the 2nd Sharjah Business Forum. In the context of economic cooperation among OIC Member States, Ihsanoglu stated that the current Trade Preferential System (TPSOIC) entered into force following the completion of all procedures necessary for its take-off. He pointed out that the system aims to promote intra-trade through the exchange of preferential benefits among states involved in the framework, according to a latest press release issued by OIC. --MORE
