The Madina Highway Patrol arrested drug smugglers in two separate incidents over the past two weeks. Earlier this week Madina Highway checkpoint officers tried to stop a suspicious young driver with a passenger in an abaya. After the driver defied the police order to stop, he was chased and eventually pulled over. A large quantity of hashish was found in the car. Last week, the Highway Patrol prevented an expatriate from smuggling 49,000 Captagon pills into Jeddah. He hid the pills inside vegetable boxes. The smuggler and the person waiting for him in Jeddah were arrested.
